About Rod Garnas

Rod Garnas, Principal of Empire Insurance Group is a graduate of Iowa State University. Rod started in the insurance business in 1982 in the State of Iowa. In 1984, Rod moved from Iowa to Colorado and relocated to North Carolina in 1995. Rod’s interest include flying, as he is a pilot in a general aviation aircraft, running, competing in triathlons and spending time with his wife Kim, their son Reynolds and two Jack Russell Terriers, Jack and Carley. In Rod’s spare time, he and his wife dedicate time to many charities, one being Camp Woodbine in North Raleigh for the hearing impaired, and also dedicating time to organizing and directing the Second Empire 5k Classic that is held annually in the Downtown area of Raleigh, NC. The Second Empire 5k Classic is part of the Grand Prix, which is a series of races ranging from 5k, up to half marathons.
